Don’t say no to lashes: Open yourself up to new possibilities

When you’re faced with the decision of embracing a new possibility, especially when it comes to something as personal as makeup, my advice is simple: don’t say no to lashes.

Growing up, I never had much interest in makeup. My mother, a natural beauty herself, rarely wore makeup, so it wasn’t something I was exposed to or taught to appreciate as a young girl. It wasn’t until much later in life, as I embarked on a journey of self-discovery, that I realized the power of accentuating my features and embracing new possibilities. Like many women, I struggle with dark circles around my eyes, a constant reminder of the lack of sleep I often endure. It was during a black tie event that a dear friend and talented makeup artist, Michelle, convinced me to let her work her magic. That night, I experienced my own Cinderella moment, and it sparked a newfound fascination with makeup.

However, when Michelle would ask me if I wanted lashes, I would always decline. My perception of false eyelashes was skewed by the exaggerated styles I saw on younger girls. I didn’t want to look outlandish or too far from my natural self. It took the insistence of another professional makeup artist, who assured me that lashes were the finishing touch my look needed, to finally give them a try.

To my surprise, the lashes transformed my appearance in the most subtle and beautiful way. I looked younger, my eyes were brighter, and my self-consciousness about my dark circles vanished. The lashes were the missing piece that completed my makeup look, without making me look like someone I wasn’t. From that moment on, I embraced lashes as a regular part of my glam routine.

Now, I understand that false lashes may not be for everyone. But the lesson I learned is to be open to new possibilities, even if they seem intimidating or outside of your comfort zone. Sometimes, it’s those small changes that can make a big difference in how we feel about ourselves. Whether it’s trying a new makeup technique, experimenting with different styles, or simply saying yes to something you’ve always been hesitant about, don’t be afraid to step outside of your routine and embrace the unknown.

In the end, it’s about finding what makes you feel confident and beautiful, and allowing yourself to explore the endless possibilities that makeup and self-expression offer. So, the next time you’re faced with a new opportunity or a new possibility, remember my advice: don’t say no to lashes. Open yourself up to the potential of transformation and let your inner beauty shine.
