Letter From My 11-Year-Old Self

By Steph Jones

Hello Stephanie. How are you?

It’s been 42 years since I last saw you.

Boy, did I miss you.

We have a lot to talk about.

Why did you forget about me?

Why did you leave me behind?

We used to have so much fun together.

Cheering, tetherball, singing, playing.

What a vibrant, fun-loving, amazing person you were.

I’m glad you’re back.

Why did you stop pursuing our God-given gifts…running, singing, writing?

Boy, how much I missed you.

We had the most amazing wardrobe.

Why did you have a closet full of florals?

Thank God you realized your mistake with the florals.

I’m happy to see you Running to Catch Up because I missed you.

Even without me, you were winning.

Wife, mother, career…you did well for yourself.

But just think about what we could’ve done had you not left me.

Keep running. Keep pursuing me. Keep pleasing God.

I missed you so much.

I pray that you don’t leave me again.

With love, Steph
